The Midnight Club by Shane Goth, Yong Ling Kang

3.0

The Midnight Club follows two siblings who get up after their parents are asleep and sneak around the house. The children are innocent and only slightly mischievous, they don't make a gigantic mess or sneak out of the house or anything. I enjoyed the art style of the blue illustrations with the warm yellow glow occasionally for emphasis. However, not much happens, there's not a lot of text because of the whole "you have to be silent to sneak around" and the repetitive coloring in the illustrations actually ended up making the story feel a bit duller than I was expecting it to be. I would have liked it more if there was a little less of the aforementioned elements to keep the book exciting. All in all, it's just a cute story about a bond between sisters and sharing little secrets with one another.
