Perfect Little Children by Sophie Hannah

4.0

A bit weird if a mystery. The main character, Beth drives by the house of a former friend and sees her with her 2 children who are the exact same age as when she last saw them. She tells her husband and daughter and they try to unwind the mystery together. They are told that Flora lives in Florida with her husband Lewis. Beth must have been mistaken as the people who live there are different but it turns out Flora does live there with her 2 children who have the same names as her older two children. Lewis lives in Florida with the older kids. Beth goes to Florida to figure it all out and lewis reveals he has made beth live this life making her think that she killed their baby by drinking and putting the baby in bed with her. But he tells her he actually killed the baby because he never wanted it. Then he made beth live in that house and get married and have 2 more children with him while pretending they are the other guys. Beth kills lewis. Good story but very meta and drawn out.
