Thunderstruck by Erik Larson
informative
slow-paced
3.25
Very slow. As I was unaware of the Crippen murder, I was lacking a lot of context going into this book. The two storylines (Marconi's global wireless and the Crippen murder) take a long time to dovetail, and the link between the two is tenuous at best. Crippen's portion is fascinating (but slow) and Marconi is frankly a dick (though it was interesting how little Newfoundland features despite their claim to his fame now!).
Larson attempts to recreate the winning formula of Devil in the White City but manages to slightly miss the mark — neither portion of Thunderstruck have the same draw.
