Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan

the first book in this series was a beautiful blend of a heroines coming of age and a SUB PLOT romance that enhanced the story. the end was perfect. there was no cliffhanger. and thus, there was no reason for a second book. everything that happened in this book, felt to me that it undermined the story and the loss and stakes of the first book. the romance was repetitive, and bringing back a character who had done wrong only to end up being the main love interest in the end AFTER killing him off. the last three chapters should have been a three page prologue at most. this just ruined the heroine for me, and turned her into an indecisive, whiny, woe-is-me who moped around in self hatred when at the end of the first book she was powerful and independent and yet still able to get a happy ending with her loveā€¦ only to throw him away in this book. i really just kept waiting for this book to end, which is so unfortunate considering how much i loved the first one.
