The Good Luck Charm by Helena Hunting

3.0

I wasn't intending to read this book, but my library had a copy available and I was looking for some light fluff.

Well, that's definitely what I got.

I was intrigued by the "going home" and "second chance romance" vibe of this story, and those bits were great.

This book is steamy and honestly a little bit of a trashy romance. The main characters are both just perfect sexual specimens and insanely hot and attracted to each other (of course). They're fit sexy people (cue eye roll) and they just can't keep themselves from each other because they're both just so hot. Ugh.

I mean, I love a good sexy romp, but this one seemed a bit cliché and over the top. There wasn't much else to this story other than 2 horny people just constantly going at it.

There is a subplot that's introduced as a bit of a twist near the end that was definitely interesting, but it's very quickly dealt with and feels like almost an after thought in relation to the rest of this book.

I hadn't read anything by this author before, but apparently she is really big in the hockey sex, puck bunny subgenre of romance novels, so I guess I should have done a bit more research before picking up this book.

I didn't dislike it, though I didn't find it all that memorable. It was a nice little sexy escape. Which I guess is all it needed to be. I just wish there was a little more weight to it.

It's probably a 2.5 star read for me, but I'll bump it up to a 3 because the steam-factor is through the roof!
