Borderlands/La Frontera: The New Mestiza by Gloria E. AnzaldĂșa

5.0

I love love love this novel. The combination of Mexican/Spanish and English, prose and poetry, fiction and non fiction, oh my! It was surprising to see that it was written in that way, but you get used to it.
There are some novels that open your eyes to a whole new world, and Borderlands is one of them. Unforunately, the troubles of Anzaldua's world and culture are not fictional ones, and that makes them more painful than any of the fictional ones. Shame is on white people who forget all the injustice they rained upon all the other cultures and pretend that they are sent by God to 'educate' and improve and civilize the cultures that already have their own histories and traditions and beliefs.
