Miracle Creek by Angie Kim

Did not finish book. Stopped at 20%.
Got really uncomfortable with how autism was portrayed. I dont care to finish it at this point, there's other books I'd rather be reading that do a good job portraying both autistic people and autism as a whole.
I was shocked to find so little reviews talking about this even though it was made very obvious early on that all main characters have some incredibly ableist views about autism, views that go unchallenged by any other character (and by extension the author), about curing autism and what causes autism. I felt very icky reading it, it doesn't feel like the author knows autistic people at all, even though they keep talking about families and how families suffer and what families go through.
There's no autistic character with a POV, which considering the book revolves around these kids as plot devices I would've expected there to be one, or at least some attempt at humanizing them or giving the impression that autistic people are actually people with thoughts and minds of their own.
All around very disappointed (and also disappointed at people's response to this book)
