I saw this had decent reviews and was about dogs, so I decided to read it. I basically went into it blind.
The gods Hermes and Apollo make a bet that leads to 15 dogs in Toronto being given human consciousness, and after that it just follows the rest of the dogs lives'. Once I figured out that's what this was about, I was second guessing it, it just sounded a bit weird. But I'm glad I stuck with it. The Greek mythology aspect popped in a few times and was interesting, and philosophical aspects were sprinkled throughout, making what at surface level was a bit ridiculous, actually pretty interesting and sad.
