Missing from the Village: The Story of Serial Killer Bruce McArthur, the Search for Justice, and the System That Failed Toronto's Queer Community by Justin Ling

challenging dark reflective medium-paced

3.5

I appreciated the point of view of the writer who tried to focus on the failure of the police and the system that allowed these disappearences to be ignored rather than on the gory details of the murders.

I personally found the comments regarding journalism, true crime and ethics very interesting and those made a lot of sense in the larger context of the book. It also somewhat explained why the book seemed to really stay away from any sensationalism and deal as respectfully as possible with the victims and their close ones.

I learned quite a few things about the queer community, Canada‘s history of policing queer communities.
