Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe

challenging funny hopeful lighthearted

4.0

I really enjoyed this book! I loved Henri’s charming personality and how he turned to mush around Corinne. Their banter and dialogue was always so fun! They started off as friends and I love seeing that. Slow burn romance is my favorite especially when the guy falls first 🤗

I loved seeing how Henri related to his parents and uncle. I loved his relationship with his friend Ming. Henri had a great support system around him and still felt so much pressure to be perfect. Some of it was from his dad but most of it was self-inflicted, which I can relate to!

The third act breakup was very much warranted and I appreciated the way the book ended. It was both sweet and very realistic for what occurred in the story.

This story was cute, funny and very witty. My only critique is I wish there weren’t so many sexual jokes/references. I would say it was occasional but more than I would like. There was also some explicit language that came up infrequently. Aside from that, this book would great!
