The Beautiful Death by Mathieu Bablet

challenging dark emotional mysterious sad tense medium-paced

5.0

Holy moly, so for the beginning of this book, I felt I'd seen this story before (not dismissively, just ok familiar). Then it fucking went off the rails, and several twists later, I'm devastated yet satisfied. Beautiful, twisted, loving. So weird and awful. I'm reminded of Blue Gender (anime), Stray (video game), The Walking Dead (but succinct). This graphic novel is a lot of things, and for me, it hit the mark. And that ending panel, damn, it made me hoping-to-be-hopeful, in such a sad, messed up way. Lovelovelove.
