While passing through the small town of Margrave, Georgia, former military police officer Jack Reacher is arrested for murder. As events unfold, Reacher realizes that he has stumbled upon a deadly conspiracy that may have far-reaching consequences for the economy of the United States.

A well-paced thriller with a solid plot and exciting action scenes. The conspiracy storyline is outlined effectively although there are one or two very convenient coincidences that require some suspension of disbelief.

Jack is an appealing albeit morally ambiguous anti-hero with a no holds barred approach to justice. Consequently, readers should not be expecting a hero who regrets, repents and reforms, but one who embraces the necessity of playing dirty when circumstances require.

Dick Hill does a fine job with the narration. His deep voice and firm intonation appropriately reflect Reacher's physical presence. That said, these same vocal characteristics are problematic when it comes to the female characters.

Overall, an entertaining listen and I will continue with the series.
