My Friend Dahmer by Derf Backderf

3.0

“He was a nobody. One of those shy kids who turned into social invalids when that first blast of adolescence hit, meekly accepted their fate, and became invisible.”

A memoir about one of the most famous serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer. It talks about his early life and his development of a serial killer. Multiple factors contributing to his behaviour such as; his parents shaky marriage and then divorce, his anti-socialization, his sexual needs & urges that were not normal for which he needed help. Basically, all the factors that are important for our growth and in becoming who we are.

Now, I can go on about Derf not being a good guy for not helping or for leaving him out like everyone else, but that is something he also knows & accepts because as he said Jeff didn't look like he needed help or that it was something adults should've discovered and helped him. But, I know it's not that easy.

An interesting read if you like reading the dark side of psychology.
