People from Bloomington by Budi Darma

5.0

I’m very glad to acquaintance with Prof Budi Darma, late I knew that he was a rector and professor in one of my uni at my hometown in Surabaya, Indonesia. While the first book in Bahasa Indonesia launched decades ago, just discovered back two years ago when one of my friends captured the cover of “Orang-orang Bloomington” in Bloomington, Indiana.

Been searching for the original copy in Bahasa Indonesia is quite rare, I got my 2022 English copy from the nearby flagship imported bookstore in Indonesia.
At first, I thought only those several mentioned people would be told, instead, I have found more imaginary personas more than I thought!

After four chapter of life whose been narrated, I quite envy with them: Budi Darma depicted them as subtle and detail that brought me in the situation which “when I’ve been told of being told by someone in that manners?”

For those who wanna learn English through one of the finest Indonesian literature, I profoundly suggest this novel. I don’t promise you could find same joy and excitement as me, yet, People from Bloomington taught me that every reader has their space and pace to find their surroundings everywhere, not only in Bloomington as a place settings but also in your neighborhoods.

Good luck!
