The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White

5.0

This book is a masterpiece. I have so many thoughts and so many feelings. This made me angry, and emotional, and it was so brilliant at the same time. Such an incredible exploration of queerness and injustice and misogyny through the lens of a historical England where ghosts are real. Silas was the most phenomenal main character and narrator. The twists and turns in the plot were expertly done. The prose was flawless. I am in awe. It's almost like this book was written specially for me.

There are parts of me that wanted to read this through non-stop but it is heavy, and the horror is horrific, not least because it is so real, so I had to take some breaks throughout.

I just love a book that features dead girls getting revenge, I guess.
