A very solid thriller! This was definitely an easy read and I devoured it in less than 24 hours. I think the format of the story, as us listening in on her therapy sessions, was a really interesting and good storytelling device.

I think ultimately I wished that the MC had like at least one solid person she could trust. I thought the romance-ish plot line was unnecessary but I didn’t hate it or anything.

I’m not even mad that her mom had something to due with the kidnapping, or that she never understood exactly how fucked up her actions were, because her mom sucked from the jump. I’m disappointed in her friend Cristina and her then-boyfriend Luke. I cannot believe Luke’s first instinct from hearing of the moms involvement is “your poor mother.” HUH???? Does no one understand the trauma MC has been through?! And I thought it was so weird that Cristina didn’t encourage MC enrolling in art school and pursuing her dream. I don’t think anyone would view that decision as running away. The animosity was so unfounded and confusing for me.

Overall, a very solid 4-star thriller and I do recommend it.
