Did every poem move me to tears? No, only a few. Ropes, The Sweetness of Dogs, School, and "For I will consider my dog percy" were my favorites. Some poems, like dogs, I love more than others. But the world without either is impossible to imagine.
I thought of giving this book 4 stars or 3. But it felt like I was giving Mary Oliver 4 or 3 stars. Then it felt like I was giving the idea of dogs 4 or 3 stars. And I'm sitting alone and don't have a dog whose head to scratch to apologize to for that idea.
