Paulina & Fran by Rachel B. Glaser

4.0

This book is one of those pieces of writing where you really love the story, but also find that the characters are annoying because they are always undecided about things! The characters drifting through art school were described exactly as you would think students in art school would be like.

It centres around two girls, Paulina and Fran. And their friendship is unlikely and strange (and also strained as Paulina comes across as a bitch) but I think it’s down to the fact that Paulina doesn’t really know how to love and be loved - or that’s she’s too scared to commit to something. Fran in contrast, is lovingly naive and innocent, but also very lost.

Sure, they love the same guy and he loves them both, but they also have an obsession and love for each other. And it’s towards the end, after they’ve finished art school and started their independent lives that they find out what they want and need.

This was an interesting second read.
