The Rising by Kelley Armstrong

This is definitely the best in the trilogy. The characters get captured and from there it gets interesting. We also get a bit more depth from some of the characters, although they do feel mostly flat still. I lost track of who was who quite a few times, but that has been a common theme for me throughout this trilogy.

The plot does get repetitive. Escape, nearly get caught, escape again etc but it is an easy and quick read that doesn't require much emotional connection. If I'm honest I would have wanted more information on the powers of the other members of the group too.

If you want an easy read, maybe something to help you out of a slump without playing on your mind when not reading, this is the trilogy for that.
