The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi
5.0
Rating 4.5 stars
I'm not sure how to review this book as I'm so blown away by it. It had me questioning my own mental sanity half the time. The blending between real life and (dark, twisted) fairytale is done so seamlessly, that I personally was never sure if the characters were imagining everything or if all the bizarre, magical things were indeed happening.
Although I suspected the twist early on, the way it all unfolded was so unexpected that by the time it was all revealed I was sure I had been wrong all along (not giving any spoilers, just patting myself on the back for my early inkling lol).
All in all, a stunning book with gorgeous prose - and a very interesting way of portraying very serious themes without making light of them. I have not read Bridge to Terabithia (only watched the movie), but if I were to make a comparison, it'd be to that. It feels like a Bridge to Terabithia for adults. Definitely recommend it!
