Ecos do Passado, by Danielle Steel

4.0

Out of all of Danielle Steel's recent novels, this is one I really enjoyed. Many years ago when I started reading Danielle Steel, I really loved her books. Her ideas were fresh & new. Now that she has written over 60 novels, I only pick up one of her books for something light & quick to read. I usually end up disappointed because Steel ends up repeating herself throughout the book & you know the story seems like it is recycled from one of her other books. Echoes was an exception. The story of a Catholic boy that falls in love with a Jewish girl during WWI, was finally an interesting story that made me care about the characters. As the story goes into WWII and their daughter (a nun) is sent to a concentration camp, it became even more interesting. This was not her usual romance fluff, but a story that kept me reading to find out what was going to happen next. This was a hint of the Danielle Steel I loved to read so long ago. I think I keep reading Steel's books in the hope of finding the Danielle Steel of old & I certainly did with this one.
