American Idol by S.C. Hayden

4.0

A get rich scheme gone wrong. It seemed like such a simple plan. Start the American Idol business and sell idols for anything imaginable. What Gus and Desmond don't ever see coming is a full blown upheaval. Money changes people, and these two are no different. When their company takes off, they assume crazy names, wear outrageous clothing out in public, and tick people off on purpose just to bring more hype to their idols. Death threats are not uncommon.

The book description does a great job of summarizing the plot so I won't go into all of that. I really did enjoy this novel. It had a good pace, caught me off guard with things I didn't see coming, and had moments that had me laughing out loud. The grammatical errors need to be cleaned up but overall S.C. Hayden did a great job, taking on a mix of eggshell topics all at once!

American Idol is not for those who get offended easily. The very basis of religion is snubbed, not to mention the sex and curse words. If you can remember that it is a work of fiction you will really enjoy this read. Just give it a try, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!
