The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

4.0

Everyone told me to read this book ( and by everyone I mean just one person, my cousin, because let's face it there aren't many people reading nowadays in India) this book is well received by other people so I started reading the book and boy it was good. I haven't rated it 5 stars because I didn't feel magnificent about this book but still it's a great book. Starts a little awkwardly with all those cancer things but slowly slowly , bit by bit it gets better and better with every chapter. If you can just manage to read a couple of chapters at the starting then you will complete this in no time which by I mean that you will want to complete this book. Now I understand that I don't know what goes on in a cancer patients mind but neither do anyone except the patients themselves. So this book is the only way to understand this and I think this book does a pretty good job of displaying the character with cancer. I mean there was no moment where I thought that the writer has exaggerated in any way or not dramatized it enough. Now obviously everyone thinks different so maybe for some people this is a bullshit novel. But I am not those people, I enjoyed this book very much. Slowly slowly understanding that why she is so mad about the things she is mad about. I also love the very fictional and pretty unrealistic male protagonist i.e. Augustus. He do some stuff which is out of this world but who cares that's one of the reasons you read novels, to read about characters that you normally may not get a chance to meet. So that's completely okay. And I also like that how in the entire book it always look like that Hazel will die but all of a sudden a complete plot twist and we came to know that Augustus has more damaging cancer than Hazel and we also respect his decision to not tell Hazel about this cancer spreading because the genius writer has already told enough about cancer mind to us before this plot twist, so we agree with his decision and also Hazel also didn't get upset about this because she already knows this as she is suffering too. John green has structured the plot amazingly for us although at the starting it may feel a little daunting or this is just my thinking. All in all it's a good book and I, like others, highly recommend this one.

p.s. This book doesn't have vibe of Romcom which may feel a little common. But this book doesn't have it. Thanks to the amazing characters it has.
