Divide Me By Zero by Lara Vapnyar

I like the writing style. The main character's voice is decently confident, but doesn't sound annoying or arrogant like in other cases of such characters that i've seen.

It's reflective. This is basically an exploration of a person speaking from a future point about her life and how she's changed as a person, what shaped her and how. A story about relationships.

Was a little uncomfortable because of a relationship between a student and teacher (a crush situation), but it doesn't get graphic.

The ending does get pretty...existential, idk. It's sad. Left me kinda shocked. I've never experienced a loss, so it was a look into this kind of a situation and a way to live through it as the mc, and it's done well in my opinion.

I'd recommend the book, it's easy to read and pretty engaging. Didn't feel preachy or annoying, the mc is flawed but likeable, human. I could relate to her easily despite having a different life, and isn't that what we often look for in characters?

Anyway, if you're interested in the topics of relationships with parents and children, as well as partners, and occasionally a bit of math (it's not dense, don't worry), this is a good pick.
