I Wanna Be Where You Are by Kristina Forest

4.0

First of all, I think this is one of the prettiest YA covers out right now! And I think the cover reflects the tone of this breezy summer read. It does deal with some serious issues, but it's all told through a fun road trip.
The main character, Chloe, comes up with a scheme to go audition for her idol's ballet conservatory in Washington DC. She ends up bringing along Eli, her childhood friend-former crush-current enemy (woo tropes!) and his adorable senior pup Geezer. Of course, things go awry and they end up spending much longer than the planned one day trip. (and There's Only One Bed!)

This was such a quick read and I really enjoyed it. Eli and Chloe's dynamic was delightful and I was definitely rooting for them to get together. Their friend Trey was great too, and their stop to see him was my favorite part of the book. (Once fierce, always fierce!)

This focuses more on the road trip and romance than on dancing, but I loved that Chloe was a ballet dancer. It made me want to read more ballet books.
SpoilerI kind of wanted a definite answer about whether or not she got into the company, but I choose to believe she goes on to dance either there or somewhere else!
