This is my third time reading the currently published books in The Stormlight Archives. Oathbringer has, in the past, been my least favorite of the four due to how grisly some of the details are. However, on this reading, I found the shock factor had worn off enough to allow me to enjoy the aching depths to the characters in this story.
Oathbringer is a book about owning the past, embracing responsibility, and allowing that to propel growth instead of wallowing in past mistakes. These lessons are painfully hard won for the characters ... and in their struggle not to break under that, I found myself inspired.
