Find You in the Dark by A. Meredith Walters

well that was a happy book. all joking aside, oh the whole i think it was a good read and dealt with a topic that i haven't come across in books too many times. a lot of the time i did think that the declarations of 'i love you' were a bit over the top but i just kept reminding myself that these are 17 yr old kids...it's gonna be melodramatic.
in my reading of ya and new adult boks there are plenty of male characters that come off moody, jealous, possessive and that can quickly lead to the 'this guy's a jerk' result. but put those issues in the vein of someone struggling with mental illness and it kind of spins thar perception. obviously it doesn't make it okay but it does make it more complicated. instead of broadly painting maggie as weak she becomes a girl struggling to do the right thing, to not abandon someone who has been let down before.
obviously you find yourself saying 'come on...maggie can't save him or fix everything' but in respect to that, i remind myself that she is a naive 17 yr old...not exactly known for their objective thinking. it will be interesting to see how the series continues and I'm glad it wasn't all roses at the end because the reality is that there is a long uncertain path ahead for clay.
