Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

5.0

I read this book when I was little for the first time...and I return every couple of years. The stories...the red headed character...the Canadian back drop of the past....led to a lot of day dreaming. Two words- Gilbert Blythe. :)

Second (15th!!??) reread--- I decided to return to Prince Edward Island and attempt to finally finish the series. I lost interest when I was little once Anne started having kids and staying at home. I heard this happened with a lot of young girls....
It was such a delight to return to PEI!! Avonlea, Charlottetown, Diana, Marilla, Ms Stacy, Gilbert....One big hug. This book attacks Anne's arrival to Avonlea and her time at school until she leaves for teacher's college. I still teared up at the end....but I won't say why. I wish I had had a Mathew. I cannot wait to dig up the next book (which will also be a reread).

Read if you need some comfort....and want to meet a red headed girl with a huge imagination.
