Inferno by Dan Brown

2.0

An exercise in the predictable. The writing is ok; highly expository... in fact, the repetitiveness had me wondering if Brown believes his audience is mentally incapable of getting it the first time. Character growth is nonexistent; for some who've read other Brown books, it's as if Langdon's in perpetual character stasis. A shame, really... Brown has had the opportunity to create a rich, dare I say, complex, character in Langdon, and it doesn't seem like he's tried. Or maybe he doesn't especially care to; he's found his formula that obviously makes the sale. Anyway, it's a quick summer read and probably interesting for readers not familiar with Dante, etc., but for those who are familiar, it may seem regurgitative and obvious. It is what it is.
