Freedom Is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine, and the Foundations of a Movement by Angela Y. Davis

3.0

I feel a little bad giving this only 3 stars, but overall, I wanted more from this. By nature of the fact that it’s a collection of speeches and interview questions, there isn’t a whole lot of depth here. And there’s quite a bit of repetition of themes. Which is good for reinforcing the ideas but left me just needing to add other books to my list to learn more (for example, I was hoping to learn more about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict here).

With all that said, I found it interesting to think about race/ethnicity, gender, and class struggles more globally. And the powerful people and organizations who are profiting off of these struggles (and namely off of prisons) across the world.
