I couldn’t decide if this book was 5 stars or 4 but I settled on 5 because of how emotionally connected I felt to the characters. This book is written in an incredible way and I love how you get to know the characters so well that you don’t need to know who’s POV the chapter is in. I love the way the characters are flawed yet still so loveable and I hate the way it ended up. The ending of this book was expected but heartbreaking none the less. As much as I enjoyed this book I would never recommend it as it is just very heartbreaking. The reason I was torn between 5 stars and 4 stars is because I felt like the book didn’t need to be as long as it was. It got to the point where I felt like it was just one sad story after another. I still really enjoyed the book it was just a bit much at some points. Either way Hanya Yanagihara did an amazing job with writing this book.
