On Fire: The Case for the Green New Deal by Naomi Klein
2.0
Difficult and disheartening to read given the timing - Sanders & Warren have dropped out of primaries and endorsed Biden while Trump gleefully makes a mockery of the press, the rule of law and Democratic norms amidst the remaking of the world from COVID-19. Was hoping for a book that contained more policy details vs reprints of speeches and essays the felt a bit like cheerleading and retreading of old themes.
Yes, there is excellent writing but not a lot of new observations or insights and if you have read two or more of the authors books, particularly This Changes Everything and The Shock Doctrine, then I suggest you skip this and just read her current essays on The Intercept and donate your money to them or other worthy independent media outlets.
