“Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold…”

This book… it made me feel so much. So many tears. Ponyboy, Sodapop, Darry, Two Bit, Johnny, Dally… these aren’t characters I’ll forget quickly. Neither is the message. I cried a lot. But I also smiled because chocolate cake and stars and sunsets. “There’s still a lot of good in the world.”
It’s sad, it’s real, it’s beautiful. I think I’ll still be thinking about it long after I’ve finished it. Johnny was gold and my favorite next to Ponyboy. They dig sunsets. That’s gold. It’s a good way to be. ❤️

Quotes that made me feel a lot

“I’ve been thinking about it, and that poem, that guy that wrote it, he meant you’re gold when you’re a kid, like green. When you’re a kid everything’s new, dawn. It’s just when you get used to everything that it’s day. Like the way you dig sunsets, Pony. That’s gold. Keep that way, it’s a good way to be.”

“I want you to tell Dally to look at one. He’ll probably think you’re crazy, but ask for me. I don’t think he’s ever really seen a sunset.”

“There’s still lots of good in the world. Tell Dally. I don’t think he knows. Your buddy, Johnny.”
