Destroyer of Worlds by Larry Correia

This series still feels "just fine" level to me. It progresses really slowly even for an epic fantasy. There are lots of intricately described battles, but every other kinds of scene is a bit blah. I don't feel like the protagonists are really in control of anything, which makes sense as most of them are magically compelled or running away from something. Not super satisfying, but not really bad either. I'm also wondering why this book is seemingly based on Indian culture. Other than needing a caste system, the book forgets about its setting for chapters at a time. Then randomly, oh yeah, it's Holi, somehow.
