The Beggar King and the Secret of Happiness: A True Story by Joel Ben Izzy
5.0
Did you know there are professional storytellers still at large today? I didn't. While methinks I'd still prefer to read a story (thanks to these ol' bionic ears of mine) I think it's marvelous that storytellers are still out there.
This book is a memoir of one such person. Ironically enough, it traces the year of his life in which he lost his voice due to cancer. He sets up each chapter with a short version of one of the myriad of stories he know and relates it to that chapter of his life. Very good read!
