Beyond the Deepwoods by Paul Stewart, Chris Riddell

3.0

Okay this book was an oddity for me but the last 70ish pages seemed to bolster the whole book. The beginning felt so storyless that I was struggling. The formula seemed the same; Twig would get into a situation then narrowly escape. Once that formula finally broke with the sky pirates I was sold.

Paul Stewart's writing I feel left a little to be desired if I'm honest I didn't like the wordy explanations for minor details about creatures that were in 2-3 chapters. Just describe them and move on in my opinion.

Overall did I enjoy it yes, thanks to the ending. Will I continue on? Yes. Hopefully there is a greater story arc to it all that I've somehow missed.
