The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt

3.0

The first 300 pages were captivating. The rest was a stream of consciousness, which could have been shortened to 200 pages if not less. Everything was smushed together. Terrorism, a tragic coming of age story, art theft, drugs, crime. Finishing it was difficult and it became exceedingly more difficult to feel for the main character as he swayed around in every direction without intent or purpose.
It makes me sad, because the story itself is very moving, but there was too much water, a lot of odd sloppiness regarding cultures and simply too many topics pushed into one book.
