I really didn’t like that Julian just disappeared and now, even though he’s the one that left them, he gets offended with how they react to him
(for example when Caroline couldn’t find her daughter and discovered that she was sitting on Julian’s lap)
. The last time they saw him was after he’d drunk human blood for the first time, and before they could see how/if that affected him, he disappears. Now he’s back and at the same time murders start happening, so how is everyone supposed to react to him being back when he’s become a stranger?

I didn’t like how Portia blindly takes Julian’s side all the time. There was a moment where she talked about being indifferent to him, but that lasts maybe a page or two.

I didn’t like this book because there was basically one conflict which could have been easily avoided, except Julian makes a decision that makes no sense to me and causes all the subsequent problems.
I have no idea why Julian didn’t kill Valentine when he met her, and I couldn’t understand why he seemed to have been in a relationship with her.

This book and the main point of it were not for me, as it just made me angry. While I really didn’t like this book, I’ll still probably try other books by this author as I liked Adrian and Caroline’s book.
