The pacing was great, the characters were beyond lovable, and while marketed as a romance, this book is so much more than that. It’s an exploration of generational trauma and neglect (and breaking that cycle!), motherhood, impacts of chronic illness/invisible disability and addiction on adult life, and a second chance romance. Beautifully done. Audre was my favorite character but every character was perfectly executed and so human. While the spice wasn’t particularly spicy/forgettable (honestly the author could have made it more fade to black because the spice wasn’t needed to enhance the plot), the romance and banter was top tier.
sadly I saw a tiktok with a list of trigger warnings for this book that included “child death” so I was preparing for Ty. If I hadn’t known, his death would have hit way harder. Also, the “This is for the misfit” made me seriously tear up! The breakup was bittersweet and so perfectly done that I was not certain  (and felt ok with the idea!) if there would be a HEA for Eva and Shane.
my only (selfish) wish is that there was a second epilogue — while it ended beautifully and more is not necessary, I wish we saw more of a time jump to the next June for a “where are they now.”
