The Heir by Kiera Cass

4.0

I admit, there are plenty of things I dislike about this book. Eadlyn is spoiled and self-centered and egotistical.

She's a flawed character. And that makes her a terrible character, but a more believable person.

This had a lot of moments where I shook my head at her arrogance and self-conceit. Her conversation with Neena about her boyfriend. And her last words to Ahren. But there were a lot of wonderful moments too. The baseball scene and the first "date" with Kile, and pretty much every scene with Osten. And definitely the scene with her, Ahren, Kaden and Osten together. Those are incredibly real moments that I loved.

I don't hate this book, despite our MC's faults. I think she's seeing them now, and I'm expecting to see her grow in the final book. And I believe she has a valid point about the expected roles of women, and of how things can really take a toll on a person.

I have my guess for who she's going to end up with, but I'll keep mum about it for now.
