Batman, Volume 5: Zero Year: Dark City by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV
2.0
The best thing about this story is that the Riddler is portrayed as a formidable foe. Other than that, it's just okay, mostly. Snyder started off great with The Black Mirror but I don't know what's happened to him since then. Ever since DC rebooted their universe (how many times now?) the narratives have become confusing, although this wasn't as bad as the other Bat-book I read recently. I'm not a fan of Capullo's scratchy art either, and as with The Court of Owls I found he's not always great at communicating the action with his visuals. None of these issues credit an editor; maybe that's the problem? Back to previous eras I guess; modern DC just isn't for me.
