In Love with a Wicked Man by Liz Carlyle

5.0

This is my first Carlyle book in years and I was not disappointed. The pace is steady and doesn't waste time on getting started, which I always appreciate-- and the quick start doesn't take away from any sort of development for the plot and characters. It would have been interesting if Edward's life played a larger role in the actual plot, for something so important it doesn't seem to actually come up much. While his character is strong, more of this would have further strengthened his character for me. I enjoy both Edward and Kate as characters and their relationship develops quickly but believably. Reggie, Kate's previous fiance before she cried off, provides several instances of further development for individual characters and the couple, as well as providing a decent amount of action. Whats better that even if Edward came to the rescue upon her kidnapping Kate was good at taking care of herself.
