The Hungry Tide by Amitav Ghosh

I read through a good chunk of this book, probably about 85% and skipped to the ending. This was a required reading for a class, and I think I probably just didn't read it at the right time in my life. It has a pretty interesting storyline, but I just found myself not very connected to it. I may have liked it more if I hadn't been required to read it. I read the required parts of the book, and skipped to the ending for my own sake so I could wrap it up. I found myself just wanting to be finished with the book, and not enjoying the overall experience.

There are some good commentaries on environmental conservation and the human footprint in the story, for anyone interested, with the added bonus of a unique setting in the Sundarbans. But there was not enough there to connect to my own interests. Because I didn't finish at least 15% of this book, and it was a required reading, I am abstaining from a star-based rating. It's too bad I didn't come across this book on my own, because maybe I would have liked it? Although, I won't be picking it up anytime soon (or ever) to try again...
