Chase ended up getting a girl pregnant in high school when he tried to pretend he wasn't gay. He saw Lyla, his daughter, a few times over the year, but he never had custody. Five years later, his daughter's mother passes away, and Chase is a full time father. Chase struggles with self esteem issues, and he is very fearful about how being gay will affect his life.

Hunter is new to Hidden Creek, and meets Chase and Lyla. He is charmed by Chase's shyness, and they become friends. Hunter has never really thought that he was gay, but he wasn't about to ignore the feelings he had for Chase. There was a little bit of challenge thrown in their way with a homophobic social worker, but the way Hunter stood by Chase's side and the way they stood up to him was great.

I absolutely loved Hunter, my heart felt so much sorrow and pride for Chase, and Lyla and Trooper
were utterly adorable. They were such a great family. I really enjoyed this book. This is the third book I have read so far in this series, and they have all been fabulous. They have definitely exceeded my expectations.
