i think my least favourite jane austen book so far, but i still thoroughly enjoyed it. especially the middle, i was flicking through that section so fast. I found the ending a tad disappointing though as it didn’t have the usual emotional payoff of her others books i’ve read.
i was waiting for my love confession but it just didn’t come, we only got a detached narrative from the narrator and nothing in the words of the characters themselves that spoke of their love for each other which meant i didn’t feel it as deeply as i usually do
it was a cute and fun read tho, and certain bits did have great chemistry, like the dialogue, especially when the two main characters first meet is SO GOOD i was grinning so hard on the train reading it lol. but yeah, the ending let it down a bit i think for me. i guess it was one of her earliest works so it makes sense that it’s not as polished.
