TBH I got burnt out listening to this series.
Books 1-3 were REALLY good, but I felt like the series lost momentum in book 4, the storyline was repetitive, more information was being introduced with the gods and it was all kinds of confusing. There were A LOT of battles throughout the series but just about everyone survived except like 3 reoccurring characters, so that made me lose interest.
I wish we got more from the side characters like Zev and Laurent.
Varen’s character development & storyline was interesting, I wish we got more from his perspective, so that it’s not just a Casia & Elander POV.
I would recommend books 1-3 for sure, idk about books 4&5 though. I had to listen to the last 40% of book 5 on 2x speed just to get through it.
Maybe I should have spaced them out more.
I would def recommend the audiobooks. (Books 1-3 are free with your audible membership, books 4&5 are 1 credit each)
The audio narrator did a great job & definitely helped me get through the series, otherwise I probably would’ve DNF’d book 4 and never read book 5
