Horimiya, Vol. 2 by HERO, Daisuke Hagiwara

5.0

A solid second volume that offers greater insight into Miyamura's insecurities and Hori's struggles with her future. I love how simple yet powerful Miyamura's and Hori's struggles are; they make them feel more human and give them obstacles to overcome without the series turning into tragedy porn. I also love the introduction to the student council, though Remi bugs me purely because I don't know why she behaves the way she does.

Something that I forgot to mention last time that I want to mention here is I adore all of the character designs. It's easy to tell who's who but their designs totally fit the character's personality and style. Also, the designs are cute as fuck, so there's that.

I'm glad we're getting all the drama early on and that it's perfectly balanced by the comedy. The comedic scenarios are simple but hilarious at the same time, especially Ishikawa and Miyamura's scenes. Hori and Miyamura's relationship quietly grows as well and I ADORE them as a couple. They're both dysfunctional but they compliment each other really well.

I hope more people will check this series, it's easily one of the best shoujo rom-coms out there!
