Again to Carthage by John L. Parker Jr.

2.0

Unfortunately, I'm not impressed with this book at all. I was expecting an inspiring discussion of the magic of running, as this is the sequel to my all time favorite book about running, Once a Runner. However, half of the book isn't about running at all. Even once I finally got to the chapters about marathon training, it seemed rushed. I found myself annoyed by Quentin instead of rooting for him; he really does sound like a guy having a midlife crisis. In addition to the lack of running, there were side stories that seemed irrelevant and tons of characters that I had difficultly placing. While it was interesting to revisit people and places from Once a Runner, this is definitely an inferior product overall.
