Forsaken by Night by Larissa Ione

5.0

This novella was such a delight to read. I initially was a bit uncertain I would enjoy the premise. I love vampires. I love paranormal romance. I am certainly intrigued by shapeshifting but put all of that together?! It was surprisingly refreshing! I often like my heros to be more dominant and confident. Often, when heros are given a troubled past, I find some writers can't put the two together well. Larissa managed this feat and it was so thoroughly enjoyable. The dynamic between Lobo and Tehya sizzles!

I never felt the story was too slow or lacked backstory. It also managed to not feel rushed. I was quite impressed especially as this was the first book in the series I have read. Given it's #2.5, I was worried I would be a bit lost. I definitely was not! I felt it could be a stand-alone novella on it's own or read out of order. I was left with a definite curiosity for the rest of the series. I most definitely will be looking into the other books in this series. I really recommend this novella if you are tentative about this series. It's a quick way to wet your appetite and assess your interest.

This was my first Larissa Ione book and I will definitely come back for more! The chemistry between the two leads was irresistible and steamy!!!

I received an advanced reader copy (ARC) from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
