I thought this was the last book and the mystery would finally be solved, but it's not...
This is still a good story though, we start with a runaway bride(Emmeline) who was supposed to marry her childhood bff but they are both in love with other people. When Emmie sees her former lover crossing the yard to the church for her wedding she sends him a note asking for a scoundrels help.
Adam is only at the wedding because he hopes it will kill the last of his heart that's holding on to Emmie, so when he receives her note he wonders if his luck might be changing even though he knows he's not good enough for her.
So we have a runaway bride and the man who is helping her escape is the same man who has been hired to find her but he also works for the home office and they want Emmeline for her unique talent of hearing/seeing and remembering voices after only hearing them a time or 2 to help them catch their villain. Various elements all twisting together to get us closer to the answers everyone needs.
